Privacy Policy — Prayer Times
Last updated 28 July 2026
Prayer Times has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Your prayer records and settings never leave your device. The one thing that does leave is your location, and only to work out when the prayers fall where you are.
Location
To calculate accurate prayer times and the direction of the Qibla, the app needs to know where you are. With your permission it reads your device's location, or you can place a pin on the map yourself instead.
Those coordinates are used in three ways:
-
They are sent to the AlAdhan API
(
api.aladhan.com), together with the date and your chosen calculation method, which returns that day's prayer times. Nothing identifying you is sent with the request — no name, no account, no device identifier. - They are passed to Apple's location services to turn into a readable place name, so the app can show something like "Sheikh Zayed" rather than a pair of numbers. The map in the location picker is Apple Maps.
- They are saved on your device so the app doesn't have to ask again next time.
Your location is never stored on any server we control, because we do not operate one. You can withdraw access at any time in iOS Settings; the app will then fall back to whatever location you last chose manually.
What stays on your device
The following is written to your device's private storage and to a shared container that lets the home screen widgets read it. None of it is transmitted anywhere:
- Which prayers you have marked as completed, and your streak
- Your saved location and place name
- Your calculation method, theme and notification preferences
Notifications
Prayer reminders are scheduled locally by your device from times already calculated on it. There is no push server, and no notification token is registered or sent anywhere.
What the app does not do
- No user accounts, sign-in or profiles
- No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting
- No advertising, ad identifiers or ad networks
- No tracking across apps or websites, and no data brokers
- Nothing is sold or shared for marketing
Third-party services
The app relies on two outside services, each governed by its own privacy policy: the AlAdhan API for prayer time and Hijri calendar data, and Apple for geocoding and maps. The Hijri calendar request sends only a month and a year — no location and nothing personal.
Keeping and deleting your data
Because everything is held locally, deleting the app removes all of it — your prayer log, your streak, your saved location and every setting. There is no separate deletion request to make, and nothing for us to erase on your behalf, as we hold nothing.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will accompany an app update.
